On behalf of the Iranian Operations Research Society (IORS), I would like to warmly welcome you to the 12th Annual International IORS Conference organized by Mazandaran University of Science and Technology being held Mizban International Complex in Babolsar, Mazandaran. We are delighted to see that this annual conference is becoming larger and more substantial every year. I am equally excited about the various topics of the sessions, and the wide variety of ideas that scholars and practitioners will provide. At this conference, the operations researchers come together to exchange ideas, advance knowledge, and make friendships. I am delighted that you are part of this conference. The theme of the conference “OR/Analytics for a Real World” represents our aspiration: how can our field make the world better? Operations Research (OR) delivers powerful decision making tools worldwide. The concept of OR is borderless as it can be derived from various disciplines such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Marine Science, Social Sciences, etc., and provides a new set of knowledge for decision making. Today, OR has become a professional discipline dealing with the application of scientific methods in decision making.
OR can be used to find optimal solutions for both simple and complex problem. It is most beneficial to the human life considering optimization of resources being used. OR is widely used in essential areas such as national planning, budgeting, transportation, education, agriculture, oil and gas and environmental management. Therefore, extensive research in OR is obligatory.
I am sure you will find Babolar to be an inspiring place in the green province of Mazandaran. Our host society, the Iranian Operations Research Society, has worked hard to put this conference together, and I am grateful for it. I am thankful to the members of the organizing committee of the conference, the track chairs, the session chairs, and the numerous volunteers. Without their generous contributions to this conference, this event could not take place. I also appreciate the cadre of sponsors supporting this conference.
Most of all, I thank you, the participants, for enriching this annual conference by your presence. I hope you will enjoy the invited talks and the various contributing presentations, renew old friendships, make new friends, develop new ideas, and above all, have good times.
